An Editorial: Against Censorship

Expressing your views is a fundamental right in a democracy, and yet today, you can lose opportunities and your career by simply speaking out. And even a public apology, when given, is not enough—a total downfall or nothing is required. The creative community is an easy target: shows are canceled, future opportunities evaporate, and the institutions that welcomed you with open arms shut their doors on you.
Imagine that happening to your own life. We have condemned censorship in the past, but why condone it today? And since when is diversity of opinion or speaking out in favor of a cause such a threat? Be careful that the fascism that surrounds you doesn’t grip your soul.
